One of our partners is The Santa Cruz District of California State Parks. Through multi-agency coordination, the California State Parks Backpacking Adventures (CASPBA) program is providing a potentially life-changing camping trip in the Santa Cruz mountains for the Boys and Girls Club this summer 2019.
Richard Tejeda, founder of Saved By Nature is Alumni of the Boys & Girls Club and works closely with these at-risk-youth, securing opportunities for them in the community, a good majority of the kids have never experienced camping before and this will be the perfect introduction for them as they will be led by skilled California State Park Naturalists.
Additionally, Saved By Nature and California State Parks in cooperation with Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks and The Mountain Parks Foundation are collaborating to bring students from Title 1 schools in San Jose on State Parks field trips through the newly created Kids2Parks program. We work together to make it easier for schools in low-income communities to have equal access to field trips by covering transportation and program costs - providing inclusion and nature for all while creating stewards and increasing the number of students exposed to a state park or beach.
Through hard work and group efforts, Saved By Nature, The Santa Cruz District of CA State Parks, Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks and The Mountain Parks Foundation are making a difference in the lives of hundreds of students that may not otherwise have been given these opportunities to experience our California State Parks.
