About the Event
Monarch butterflies inspire us because of their beauty and extraordinary feats of long distance flight and navigation. They are stunning—flaunting broad wings of black and orange as adults and wearing festive striped pajamas as juveniles. For this exploration of natural history, we will combine art and science to uncover surprising relationships. Listen in to learn how these insects handle consuming the poisonous leaves of the milkweed plant as hungry caterpillars; explore the powers of orientation and navigation of the adults of this most remarkable North American Monarch. Bring your colored pencils or watercolors and learn the tricks of the trade for drawing the different life stages.
This program is in partnership with Virtual Photo Walks and was funded in part by the Open Space Authority Urban Grant Program.
