About the Event
Come celebrate Black History Month on a nature hike at Sierra Vista Open Space Preserve!
We’ll read nature poetry of some of the greatest African-American poets as we walk along the Kestrel trail for 1-mile to look out point to see the beautiful Santa Clara Valley! We’ll enjoy lunch at look out point and listen to Saved By Nature Board Member and Ranger Aniko Millan talk of her journey and stories of serving as a Santa Clara County Park Ranger for 25 years. For younger children we’ll have an art session highlighting African-American folk tales. Bring a lunch, water, hat and/or sunscreen, and be ready to have a good time! This is a family friendly event, all are welcomed.
