About the Event
Join us on a virtual nature walk at Ulistac Natural Area to discuss the traditional uses of native plants and trees. We’ll go over making acorn bread and cookies, blue elderberry jam, and bay laurel nuts. Our guide, Richard is a naturalist who studied ethnobotany with Dr. Beverly Ortiz, he’ll teach us how to correctly and thoroughly process these foods so that they may be eaten by humans.
We nor Ulistac staff do not condone harvesting at Ulistac and request that all plant life be left for the wildlife. Take only photos, leave only footsteps.
This event is sponsored by Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority, a community partnership with Saved By Nature and Virtual Photo Walks to bring you virtual nature from the safety and comfort of your home.
