Seniors Hike for Health

This program is designed to encourage seniors to get outdoors and stay active!

We visit city parks, county parks, open space preserves and state parks and beaches throughout Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties. Along our hikes we stop to talk about the beautiful plants and animals as well as the fascinating natural and cultural history.

 

We have a great time creating friendships, and enjoy 

the many health benefits hiking has to offer seniors including:

  • Improved cardiovascular health,

  • Improved circulation

  • Reduced arthritis, joint and knee pain

  • Increase in bone density, which can improve bone health and reduce the risk of osteoporosis

  • Stronger muscles

  • Decrease in feelings of depression and isolation

  • Increased cognitive function

  • Better scores on memory tests

  • Improved reaction time

 

We provide lunch and water and meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month from 10:00am - 12:30pm

 

Hikes are limited to 12 people per group. There will be a three-point check in system and safety wristband.

We'll happily provide anyone showing up with an unsecure facial mask with a new mask. ​
